This bright and airy farmhouse kitchen in Malpas, Cheshire is the home to a keen chef, whose brief to us was to not only create a beautiful space but also a space that can both accommodate and tolerate heavy use.
We purposely chose a similar tone for the walls and work surfaces in order to create the illusion of a higher ceiling in a room that is only 2,260 mm.
Like in every design, we had a few tricky things to factor in when designing this space. To support the new extension, a large pillar was required in the centre of the room. We chose not to clad this in timber to match the other beams, but to paint it in a neutral colour. Therefore, encouraging the viewer to look past this and focus on the more decorative parts of the room.
