Heswall

The conceptual design for this bespoke kitchen in Heswall, complete with dining and lounge area, was started back in 2019 entirely from the architect’s plans. The client brief was to create a free-flowing living space that encompasses cooking, eating and relaxing. At this stage our client hadn’t considered the spatial layout, however was very keen to keep a muted, adult palette throughout the house, so this was high on the agenda. From a previous property they had owned they had developed a love of quality, bespoke furniture and so was adamant to follow this through in the new property.

The large kitchen area is split into three zones. The formal dining area, a central cooking and informal dining area and a snug. Within the central cooking area, there is a large BORA hob and sink both on the island to encourage the kitchen to be used socially whilst friends sit at the island. The work surface is a Fiori De Bosco porcelain which is perfect for a kitchen space as it wont stain or scratch with use. As the tall kitchen cabinets wrap around the corner, we introduced some faux leather door panels as a way of keeping lots of textures within the room and adding a touch of femininity.

Although this large area was separated into 3 distinct areas, we felt it necessary to ensure the spaces flowed nicely and followed a theme. We knew the snug area needed a large television; however, we didn’t want it to be the sole focus. We designed a chimney breast into this space to add a central focal point, we then added bespoke cabinets to either side and wrapped the front of the chimney in a European oak veneer. We feel this dark, moody stained veneer helps hide the large black expanse of the 55” television. This home is a full smart home with all cabinetry lighting, ceiling lighting and window treatments working on a central system that controls the room scenes.

To conclude we feel this space fits to the muted, adult brief whilst still maintaining a welcoming and inviting feeling when you enter.
